Run with the Sun

A Race unlike others....Run, Walk, Crawl
Just Keep Moving Forward!!!

The Solstice Challenge is a unique and transformative event that takes place twice a year, on the Winter Solstice (December 21st) and the Summer Solstice (June 21st), inviting people of all abilities to step outside, move their bodies, and celebrate the beauty of nature. It's not about how fast you run or how far you go, but about staying active and connected with the world around you during the daylight hours, from the moment the sun rises until the sunset.

This challenge is about pushing your personal boundaries regardless of your fitness level. Whether you’re walking, jogging, or running, the focus is to stay active and on the move from sunrise to sunset during the Solstices.

Whether you cover a half marathon, ultra marathon, or any distance in between, you’ll finish the day with a sense of accomplishment and unity with fellow participants, having completed something meaningful in the light of the sun. It’s more than just a race; it’s an invitation to celebrate the strength within and around you.

The Rules:

  • No Set Pace: There’s no pressure to run at a specific speed or cover a particular distance. This challenge is your own. Whether you aim for a half marathon or an ultra marathon, the distance and pace are entirely up to you. The key is to keep moving from the first light of the day until the last.

  • The Race is the Daylight: The challenge begins at the official time of sunrise (BST/GMT) and ends at the official time of sunset. This means you’re racing against the sun, using the daylight hours to keep your body active and engaged.

  • No Boundaries: From beginners to experienced athletes, everyone is welcome. This event is about self-discovery and growth. Even if walking is your preferred pace, you’re encouraged to participate. It's not about competition, but personal achievement.

  • Push Your Limits: While there’s no competitive aspect, you’ll find yourself surprised by how far you can go if you simply keep moving. Whether you're aiming for a personal best or simply exploring the outdoors, this event offers the opportunity for reflection and accomplishment.

  • A Shared Celebration at Sunset: Participants of the Solstice Challenge will gather to celebrate the collective achievement of staying active throughout the daylight hours. While each person’s journey is personal and unique, the moment of sunset symbolizes the culmination of individual efforts and a shared sense of accomplishment.
